2012–Goals & Thoughts

2011 was a life changing year for me in so many ways!  Full of birth, death, career shifts, new friends etc.  It is amazing to me that just 365 days ago my tummy was a big bump carrying the most precious baby in the world though we didn’t know if it was a boy or girl, his/her name or what an amazingly delightful addition she would be in our lives.  Brandon and I each had one more living grandparent then we do now and we were so blessed to have wonderful Christmas celebrations with each of them.  My life was much more chaotic, stressful and busy.  2011 was a year for change, simplification and exploring the important things in life.

2012 is going to be a year for organization, decluttering and excitement!  At least, that is what I am hoping it will be full of!  I’ve got a few goals for this year.  They are mostly personal but I figure if I share them with you then you can help hold me accountable!  I’m so excited to see what God brings for 2012!

Goals for 2012

1.  Read the whole Bible – I started this one a week or so ago and I am reading one chapter a day.  I skipped Sunday school as a kid (the boys were mean) and I’ve never read it cover to cover.  I’m excited to see what I learn through this process.

2.  Organize and declutter house, garage, cat shed and chicken coop/barn (we have a lot of out buildings!).  This is a must do!  I am not a hoarder by any means but stuff just builds up.  This past year was such a whirlwind that a lot of stuff just got ignored and dumped wherever.  I’m started to feel overwhelmed by junk and material things that just need to find a new home.  We started the garage today – anything that I don’t love or use has to go.  There is just no use for it.  (Personal pep talk over).

3.  Be comfortable in my own skin!  Oh how I miss that prebaby body!  I know I won’t ever be exactly the same again but I’d really like to be happy about how I look and feel.  I’m not going to lie, I thought I would be able to get there a lot sooner than I have.  Then real life happened and Paisley turned out to be a high and special needs baby and I may have self-medicated with chocolate (lots of chocolate).  The road is now easier - naps exist, Paisley is gaining appropriate weight, she likes the stroller, she entertains herself for short periods of time.  Now there are no excuses…time to eat less and move more.  Prepregnancy weight here I come!!  (Personal pep talk over Smile).  Really want to accomplish this by Paisley’s birth date and it is do-able so no excuses!

So those are my personal resolutions for this year.  I would like to get a lot more accomplished than just these 3 but if I only manage to accomplish these three goals I truly would be thrilled!  What are your goals and resolutions for the year?  Here is to an awesome 2012 – may you be blessed beyond measure!!

And because posts without pictures are seriously boring, here are a few snapshots of my little pretty Paisley.

Paisley – Newborn to One Month

We can’t believe our little Paisley is one month old today!  She is such a sweet little blessing in our lives!  This past month has flown by as we have been getting to know our daughter and have begun showing her this crazy world we live in.  I just checked the numbers and found that I’ve taken 703 pictures of Paisley since she has been born…I just want to document this time so that we can remember the simple joy of it all.

It is unreal to me that one month ago I went into labor not knowing who we would be coming home with and now it seems like Paisley has been with us our whole lives.  I delivered Paisley at the Bellingham Birth Center with our midwife, Ann Tive and her assistant Jessie from Birthroot Midwifery.  I can’t say enough good things about our experience there and my natural childbirth. My husband Brandon was an amazing support for me and I couldn’t have done it without him!   I wouldn’t change a thing about Paisley’s birth—what an incredible journey it was.  In the end we met our sweet little Paisley who was wide eyed and ready to meet us upon her arrival.

Here are some of my favorite pictures from this last month of our precious Paisley.

Paisley Ann Stremler–Maternity Leave

We were so blessed to welcome Paisley Ann Stremler to the world on April 12, 2011.  Weighing 7 pounds, 13 ounces and 19 1/2 inches long, she makes quite an adorable bundle.  We will be enjoying these first few months together so please note that I am on maternity leave until June 2011.  Emails and phone calls during this time will be returned within a few days.

Of course as time allows I will be posting lots of pictures of our precious little girl!

Here are some pictures from her first day.

Happy Valentines Day!

I hope you each feel little extra special today!  Brandon and I usually have dinner at home on Valentines to avoid busy restaurants but this year we’ve decided to hit the town since it will be our last Valentines Day we won’t have to hire a babysitter for many years…I’m looking forward to a yummy dinner and coming home to try my homemade chocolate chip cookie pie.  I’ve been eager to try the recipe ever since I saw it a few weeks ago and today I had an excuse to whip one (actually two) up!  Hope it is yummy!

Here is a little picture love—can’t wait to share the rest of my recent engagement session with you!  Haley and Anthony—happy Valentines and thanks for an awesome morning hanging out in alleys!
